Champagne Deutz Amour de Deutz Rose Millésime 2007

$446.00 inc. GST

Bright, radiant appearance with beautiful grey-pink gold tones. The fine, creamy bubbles form an elegant ring. Subtle and delicate on the nose, developing very fine aromas of red fruit and berries. On the palate, a delicate aromatic wake complements a pronounced minerality. Wait a moment or two, and the 2007 vintage spreads its wings: the range of flavours expands to include ripe fruit and the champagne takes on even greater texture (showing that the grapes were picked at the optimal point of maturity). Perfect balance between aromatic finesse and delicate structure. This is a truly seductive champagne. The mineral, fruity profile of the champagne comes through again on the taut, smooth finish and lingers for many seconds. This is an extremely promising champagne, in pure Deutz style.

Description

The “Amour de Deutz Rosé 2007” cuvée is primarily made up of Pinot Noir (60%) from terroirs in Aÿ, Verzenay, Ambonnay and Bouzy, and includes a good proportion of fine Chardonnay terroirs (40%): Avize and Villers-Marmery. This champagne’s distinctive style and colour are the result of the addition to the blend of a 9% proportion of fine Pinot Noir red wine, produced by Deutz from parcels of old vines growing on the Aÿ hillside.

The Amour de Deutz Rosé cuvée is the ideal companion to life’s finest moments. A sumptuous aperitif, it will also partner well with delicate, subtle, and even spicy, dishes. It will pair very nicely with a grilled lobster or with the fine flesh of delicate fish such as Red Mullet or John Dory. It can also complement, and may even magnify, a carpaccio of Kobe beef, baby lamb or pigeon with cherries.

“The 2007 Brut Rosé Amour de Deutz is a very pretty wine to drink now and over the next few years. There is good depth and plenty of power here, even if the mousse is not as refined as it could be. Cranberry, white pepper, flowers and chalk lead into the bracing finish. The 2007 is pretty, if a touch compact. Disgorged: November 11, 2015.” – 92 Points, Antonio Galloni.

“Light to mid-salmon-pink, tending towards an onion-skin shade. The bouquet is marvellously deep and complex, with an extra dimension, which if I didn’t know better I’d guess was barrel fermentation. Strawberry, charcuterie, quince paste and so much more. The palate is very intense and profound, with amazing penetration and persistence. A rich wine with a warming, generous, glowing aftertaste. Very impressive. Power with elegance. (Disgorged November 2015. Pinot noir 60%, chardonnay 40%). Drink 2017 to 2022.” – 97 Points, Huon Hooke.
