Gamay (“Gam-may” aka Gamay Noir) is a light-bodied red wine that’s similar in taste to Pinot Noir. In fact, this variety is a cousin of Pinot Noir and it grows primarily next to Burgundy, France (Pinot motherland) in Beaujolais. Its full name is Gamay Noir à Jus Blanc. It is a very old cultivar, mentioned as long ago as the 15th century.

Description

The vines grow on a variety of undulating slopes, 360-400 metres high in soils that are ironstone and quartz over clay subsoil.

Brackenwood strictly adheres to biodynamic winemaking principles and believe this is the ultimate form of sustainable production working in harmony with natural ecosystems.
