Grace Rosé Akeno Vineyard 2022

$75.00

Merlot (36%) Cabernet Sauvignon (32%) Cabernet Franc (25%) Petit Verdot (7%)

Bright salmon, firm viscosity. First impressions on the nose are rich fruit notes such as blood orange, redcurrant, cowberry and cherries and floral notes of thyme and rosemary. On the palate, the wine is complex, with exotic spices expanding on the palate. Refined, yet the concentrated flavours from low-yields reveal as structure, and the acidity typical of cooler regions give tension on the palate. This rosé wine has a long finish, combining freshness and depth.

Serious Rose, for the connoisseur who is looking for complexity and cellar worthy characters.

Description

Misawa Vineyard, Akeno town (cho), Yamanashi Prefecture

Misawa Vineyard grows grapes without using herbicides or chemical fertilizers.

The grapes are cultivated with great care,  directly pressed – saignee (pressed with skins to bleed colour), and fermented and stored in old French oak barrels. The complexity of the varieties and the taste of the land are carefully expressed. First produced in 2008,  born from the desire to make great dry rosé with structure.

WINEFRONT: GARY WALSH Posted on 10 August 2021.

Merlot (60%), Cabernet Sauvignon (23%) Cabernet Franc (17%). Tasted alongside the 2018 (reviewed last year), and seems a better, more interesting wine. Importer: QED

Watermelon, redcurrant, sansho pepper, blood orange. Juicy, spicy, distinct fern like character, a lick of tannin, pepper and strawberries, powdery texture and good length. Dry crunch. Outré but really good. Madness. Would be so good with salmon sashimi and the like. Delicious, umami style wine.
