Woodlands Brook Vineyard Chardonnay 2021

$60.00 inc. GST

White peach, nectarine, and freshly cut pineapple combining with toasty barrel ferment notes. The palate is bright and lively- mirroring the orchard fruits of the nose, with a great density of flavour. A lovely intense struck flint finish adds tension and balance.

100% from the Woodlands Brook vineyard, 100% barrel fermented, and this year for the first time , 100% fermented without the addition of yeast.

(Mendoza) clone of Chardonnay – 7 hectares,  close – planted plot of selection massale Chardonnay on the south facing slope of Woodlands Brook. Chardonnay at Woodlands Brook resides on a gentle south facing slope, similar to the ‘Chloe’ block at Woodlands – sandy loam over clay soils provides the perfect environment for the vines to flourish. The fruit has started to produce wines of delicacy and distinction.

“Very youthful wine with intensely spicy aromas, seemingly more to do with oak than the 2018 vintage. Bright palate with lovely fine, enlivening acidity. Creamy lees notes on nose and palate. More restrained than the 2018: very good but very different on account of the cooler season.” – 92 Points, Huon Hooke, The Real Review.

“From a nearby vineyard established in 2001 with higher vine density than the original plantings, the 2018 Woodlands Brook Vineyard Chardonnay is rich and honeyed on the nose, with scents of toasty oak, vanilla and citrus custard. It’s a full-bodied, textural wine, creamy on the palate, with lingering peach and pineapple notes on the finish”._ Robert Parker: Rated 93
